Monthly Music Appreciation Classes for SeniorsBelmont Village, Oak Park
Steckman Studio services senior citizens by offering Music Appreciation Classes at Belmont Village in Oak Park and at the Pleasant Home in Oak Park. Private Piano and Voice Lessons are given at the Pleasant Home. Music Appreciation Classes include listening, group singing, and historical background on composers, styles, and compositions. Residents pick the style of music they like to hear and we explore the nature of the music-melody, harmony, rhythm, form and historical context. We have a grand old time and residents drift off with their memories of happier times. Private Lessons are fit to the student's needs and aspirations. Beginners are welcome. Lessons are given at reduced prices.
Dr. Herbert Lerner and Dr. Steckman did a small concert at the Belmont Village in Oak Park recently for the Seniors at that center. Dr. Lerner is 91 years old and plays the cello. Dr. Lerner's cello teacher from Hyde Park narrated the concert. There was a very big crowd and they all enjoyed it. Studio musicians and the kids often perform at Belmont Village for the Seniors.
Steckman Senior Programs have been presented also at Montclare Seniors Home-Shriner's Hospital, Chicago and Brookdale Residence and The Oak Park Arms.
